A Window to the Fatherland – Thursday 21 June 2018
We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with some of the latest news stories about Iran, including the arrest of Ms. Zeynab Taheri, the lawyer of the late Mohammad Salas who was executed on Monday, as well as the Iran-Spain football match, in our talk to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Ms. Taheri was going to exhibit some new evidence that would have proved that the late Salas was innocent.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
According to Ms. Taheri’s account, Mr. Salas had already been arrested hours before the driving incident for which he was executed.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
You are into football. Our boys did not do badly against Spain yesterday. Iranian women were also allowed to watch the match on Azadi stadium’s wide screens along with their families. We hope this will be the beginning of Iranian women being able to enter sports stadiums on their own.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
The important role of Iranian women and mothers during the war with Iraq will never be forgotten by generations to come. They have always been at the forefront of the struggle for freedom against the dictatorial regime and have always risen against it alongside their brothers and husbands.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Yesterday was the anniversary of the birthday of Neda Agha Sultan whose young life was perished at the hands of the mercenaries of the Islamic republic regime.
The regime’s thugs did not even respect her grave. We hereby salute her memory and hold her in our hearts.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
Neda and Sohrab became the symbols of a freedom movement in Iran’s history. Our women are much more courageous than men in their struggle against the regime.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We now hear that General Firouzabadi has handed over the villa that he had been living in illegally for 27 years.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
I was given a piece of land after the revolution by a religious judge but I refused to accept it. Mir Hossein Mussavi also refused to accept one that had been offered to him.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
What do you think of Zarif’s reply to Mike Pompeo?
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
I think only couple his criticisms are justified and the rest are slogans for domestic consumption. Things like the US support for Israel are propaganda in Zarif’s letter and will have nothing to do with solving Iran’s deep problems. The only solution is for the regime to completely reverse its foreign policy.
Khamenei sees the world upside down and has now ordered his stooges in the government and the decision-making centers to reject Iran joining the international convention to stop money-laundering, FATF.
